Beware of Covid-19 Scams

The Emergency Management Agency has received reports of spam calls to individuals requesting personal information, with the callers stating that they work with the Emergency Management Agency. The Emergency Agency is NOT calling individuals and asking for personal information. If you receive a phone call like this IT IS a scam.
Be careful of these types of ads, emails, or calls:
1. Watch for emails claiming to be from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. All current news about COVID-19 can be found from the CDC at coronavirus.gov or from the Department of Health at coronavirus.ohio.gov.
2. At this time there is no cure for COVID-19 — DO NOT trust advertisements claiming there is.
3. Research all non-profit organizations or charities that may ask to donate to the cause or beware of emails and phone calls from someone trying to gather your personal information.
4. No one will be coming to your home to offer coronavirus testing.
5. Information on Government stimulus checks can be found on the Federal Trade Commission website – the Government will not be calling to ask for your banking information or social security number.
ALWAYS remember to never give out personal identifying information such as your bank account, social security number or credit card number.
For answers to your COVID-19 questions, you can call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH or go to coronavirus.gov.
