Five Found Guilty

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found five guilty at trials or in hearings held at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on November 15, 2017.

Autumn Nichols, 42 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failure to Yield on Private Property. The Court sentenced her to pay a $15 fine plus court costs.

Damian Crites, 22 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of having No Operator’s License. He was sentenced to pay a $200 fine plus court costs.

Mason Chapman, 21 of Mount Vernon, pled guilty to Failure to Confine a Dog and was sentenced to pay court costs only.

Rickey Hess, 60 of Mount Vernon, pled and was found guilty of Failure to Pay Income Tax Return and Failure to File Tax Return. He was sentenced to serve a two-year probation term, 180 days in jail with 180 days suspended, and pay a $100 fine plus court costs for these charges.

Muhaned Khalil, 41 of Mount Vernon, pled guilty to Driving under an OVI Suspension and failing to keep an Assured Clear Distance. The Court sentenced him to serve a two-year probation term, 180 days in jail with 170 days suspended, and pay a $500 fine plus court costs for the Suspension charge. The Court did not assess a fine for the Assured Cleared Distance violation.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio and the City of Mount Vernon in these cases, excepting for Rickey Hess and Muhaned Khalil, in which Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the State of Ohio.
