All Knox County voters will vote at a single location for the May 2, 2023, special election. The Knox County Board of Elections office, on the first floor of 104 East Sugar Street in Mount Vernon, will be the only Election Day polling place for all of the county’s 53 precincts. All registered voters will receive a postcard notifying them of the change in polling place for the May 2 election. The change in polling place is the result of a unanimous vote by the members of the bipartisan Knox County Board of Elections.
Voters are encouraged to take advantage of the multiple methods for casting ballots in the May special election:
● Absentee by mail- To obtain an absentee ballot please go to VOTEOHIO.GOV to obtain an absentee ballot or stop by the Knox County Board of Elections to request a ballot. All absentee ballot applications must be received by the Board of Elections no later than 8:30 p.m. on April 25. Completed ballots can be returned by mail and postmarked no later than May 1, or dropped off at the Board of Elections outside ballot box or at our offices, no later than 7:30 p.m. on May 2.
● Early- Vote early at the Board of Elections office. The early voting period runs from Tuesday, April 4 to Sunday, April 30.
● Election Day Voting- Voting on election day at the Board of Elections office only. The office is open for voting on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 104 East Sugar Street, Mount Vernon.
Voters will return to their regular precinct polling places in the fall for the November 2023 general election. The Board of Elections will send a notice to all registered voters of the change back to their local polling place prior to the general election.
The Knox County Board of Elections will conduct regular monthly board meetings on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 8:00 a.m. Meetings will be held at 104 E. Sugar Street, Mount Vernon, OH.
