Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force Visits Dayton for Latest Community Listening Sessions

Event held at the Sinclair Community College; third stop on statewide tour

DAYTON, Ohio – March 21, 2023 – The Ohio Governor’s Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force visited Sinclair Community College in Dayton today to gather more insights from community members about the quality of nursing homes across the region.

The task force held morning and afternoon listening sessions, hosting over 160 guests in total, including residents of local nursing homes, their family members and friends, industry employees, and other interested community members.

Several guests shared stories about their own personal experience or a loved one’s experience in nursing homes. Following robust group conversations, ODA staff again facilitated breakout discussions with those in attendance to gather information from members of the public on their suggestions for solutions.

The task force was first established by Governor Mike DeWine to allow State officials and industry experts to take action on opportunities to improve quality of life and quality of care in Ohio’s nursing homes. The in-person listening sessions provide opportunities for task force members to hear directly from nursing home residents and their loved ones about their experiences.

Prior to today’s event, the task force hosted two other listening sessions in the following communities:

Additional listening sessions will be held over the coming weeks in the following communities:

  • Columbus (March 24)
  • Bowling Green (March 28)
  • Nelsonville (April 6)

Cleveland (April 13)
