MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — The students and staff of Knox County Career Center have joined together to develop fun and creative activities to collect food and funds for Food For The Hungry. KCCC has been a strong supporter of FFTH in the past and is not disappointing in their efforts this year.
Knox County Career Center students have friendly competitions between the labs which have sparked some witty incentives for students to give toward FFTH.
- The Auto Tech Lab hosted a car show in October that collected donations and are now offering tire alignments to KCCC students to raise funds.
- In an effort to raise more money and be the winning lab within the Career Center the Culinary Arts Lab has been selling “A–Line Mints” (peppermint sticks), and “Tired Rotations” (coffee and donuts) to students throughout the school.
- The Landscape Lab held a Cornhole Tournament in November that was open to the community and raised over $1,000.
- The Sports Medicine Lab is hosting a dodgeball tournament between KCCC students to join the race between the KCCC Labs.
- Early Childhood Education is having Pancakes with Santa for the KCCC Preschool students to support FFTH.
- Collision Repair is also participating in its hopes to be the highest collecting lab, offering car washes and detailing for KCCC students.
KCCC Student Council is sponsoring a pizza party to the winning lab of three different categories:
- The lab that collects the most food and funds overall (with every $1 equaling four cans).
- The lab that collects the most physical food items.
- The lab that wins Penny Wars.
Student Council is selling KCCC FFTH t-shirts to students for $10, with $5 of each sale going to FFTH.
KCCC is also hosting their annual online Basket Auction in support of FFTH, opening on Cyber Monday, November 28 at 10 a.m. and found on 32auctions.com/kcccffth2022.
Bidding ends at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.
KCCC is participating in the Local High School Drive competition. The High School that collects the most will receive a winner’s plaque embellished with their name.
Knox County Career Center’s collection end date is December 8.
