Mount Vernon Residential Structure Fire

On June 21, 2020, at 8:13 PM, the Mount Vernon Fire Department was dispatched to 304 Coshocton Ave on a residential structure fire. Captain 491 was first on the scene and reported heavy smoke conditions and fire showing on the first floor.  Initial reports from bystanders was two people possibly still inside on second floor.  First arriving engine made entry into the home for first control and search and rescue.  Search of the home revealed no one was home at the time of the fire.

Mount Vernon Fire responded to the scene with a command vehicle and two engines.  Mutual aid was received from Fredericktown Fire, Frederictown EMS, and College Twp. Fire.  Columbus Gas and AEP was called to the scene to shut off utilities.  Red Cross was also on the scene to help with shelter but was not needed.

Contact was made with homeowner on scene and confirmed that no one was home at time of fire, however, a dog did parish in the fire.  There were no injuries to report from the firefighters.

The home suffered a complete loss.  The cause and origin of the fire is undetermined, however, the weather could of played a role in the case.
