Mount Vernon Avenue Bridge

MOUNT VERNON AVENUE – We have received notice from ODOT that they are ready to begin building the approaches to the south portion of the bridge.  In order to do that, the construction crew will have to close Lower Gambier Road beginning on or around June 1, for the month of June.  Then Cougar Drive will also be closed for the same period of time to build the approaches to the new bridge.

Trail users will need to park at Phillips Park for access to Kokosing Gap Trail.  the Center Run bridge has been removed by the county, so that parking lot south of the bridge is not accessible during this time.  Access is available coming from Phillips Park.

To access the Mount Vernon Nazarene University or the wastewater plant, you will need to take Division Street to the new Yellow Jacket Drive.

“Please remember that the Kokosing Gap Trail is still open and easily obtainable from Phillips Park.  We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time for this much-needed improvement project”, stated Mayor Starr.
