Your tree could be used, among other things, for mulch, a brush pile, enrichment for animals in a zoo, or fish habitat. Contact your local park district or zoo to see if they are collecting trees. You can also contact your local solid waste management district for information on where to recycle.
Remember to remove all hooks, ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc. from your tree prior to taking it to the recycling location.
