This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which UCCR interprets its mission to its members and the community. The lifeguard is expected to provide a safe and effective program delivered at the highest level of hospitality and customer service. S/he is responsible for analyzing complex problems in a restricted functional area using judgment and resourcefulness. The effectiveness of this position will be measured annually by the successful fulfillment of the stated areas of responsibility.
Areas of Responsibility:
The lifeguard shall have competence in and delegated responsibility for lifeguard and waterfront functions as follows:
Lifeguard Functions:
-Supervise all activities and instruction at the waterfront with emphasis on swimmers’ safety and enjoyment
-Perform cleaning functions in the waterfront area and adjacent buildings
Qualifications
Hold a current certification of lifeguard including Title 22 first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer
Essential Functions
-Ability to work with continual attention and alertness with intense and exacting concentration
-Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to water emergencies, as well as environmental and other hazards in the area
-Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid -Physical strength and mobility to lift and carry children and adults
-Ability to use cleaning and janitorial supplies
