Scammers Claiming to be From AEP Ohio Use Scare Tactics to Get Cash From Businesses

Scammers are at it again. They are hitting up business owners who are AEP Ohio customers, demanding immediate payment and seeking to extort cash. We’ve been made aware of several incidents recently, where scammers instruct customers to make immediate payment or have their service disconnected. In many cases, victims of the scam are directed to purchase prepaid credit cards or gift cards.
Please know that AEP Ohio never demands immediate payment, never insists on a prepaid credit card and never asks you to meet us in a non-authorized payment location.
Follow these tips to recognize scams and help keep you safe.

. If you’re told your account is past due, check your account’s status online.
