FANS of Knox County – Volunteers Making a Difference

Good morning and Happy New Year from The Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities Staff!

We have something we’d like to share with you, but first, want to give you a little backstory about how the Humans of Knox County began…

About a year ago, a group of us got together to talk about how we could connect people in the Knox County community and create opportunities for everyone, including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to share their stories and hopefully make some meaningful connections. We’d heard about the Humans of New York and wanted to try a similar effort.

Humans of Knox County exceeded our expectations and we are amazed at how quickly we gained a following! We’ve met some amazing people so far along the way, all of whom have inspired us with their stories. And we’d like to continue to grow the Humans of Knox County and bring with it, even more stories of hope and inspiration…and hopefully connect people to one another throughout the community.

That said, we want to let our followers know about FANS of Knox County. An initiative of the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities, FANS is a group of volunteers who are making a difference for a stronger community, one act of kindness at a time.

We are always looking for new volunteers and seeking opportunities to connect people throughout the Knox County community. If you’d like to learn more about the FANS of Knox County volunteer initiative, please contact Theresa Vernon @ 740-393-5726 or via email tvernon@knoxdd.com
