Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Suspended

Starting Monday, March 16, United Way of Knox County will suspend the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program as a step to help prevent the risk of COVID-19/Coronavirus until such time we announce that it will resume.

“After consulting with the Knox County Health Commissioner, we feel it best to be proactive rather than reactive with this virus” commented Director Kelly Brenneman.

Beginning Monday, March 16, SR 229 will be closed to traffic between US 36 and US 62 near Rutledge Road while ODOT crews replace a culvert.

  • Estimated completion: Friday, March 27, weather permitting
  • Detour: SR 229 to US 62 to US 36 to SR 229 and reverse

Ohio Bans Mass Gatherings of 100 or More

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced that Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, M.D., MPH has signed an order to prohibit mass gatherings in the state of Ohio.

Mass gatherings are defined as any event or convening that brings together 100 or more persons in a single room or single space at the same time such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, theater, or any other confined indoor or outdoor space.Read full story

Governor DeWine Announces School Closures

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, he has ordered that all kindergarten through 12th grade schools close for a period of several weeks.
