Summary: The Medical Optometry Receptionist, experienced in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), insurance eligibility verification, and HIPAA compliance, is responsible for providing outstanding administrative support in a medical optometry practice. This position requires working on Tuesday nights until 7:30 PM and all Saturdays from 8-1 except one per month. Attention to detail and a strong team-oriented mindset are crucial for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Reception and Scheduling:
- Greet patients warmly and professionally.
- Schedule telephone appointments efficiently
- Efficiently manage patient appointments by ensuring all patients are confirmed by the end of the business day prior to their appointment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare professionals.
- Verify insurance eligibility and communicate financial responsibilities to patients.
- Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus.
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist, specifically in optometry, with expertise in EMR systems and insurance verification processes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, crucial for accurate record-keeping and patient information management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective teamwork and patient interactions.
Working Conditions: The medical optometry receptionist will work in a professional clinic environment, interacting regularly with patients, doctors, and staff members. This position involves working from 8:30-5:30 pm, until 7:30 PM on Tuesdays and all Saturdays except one per month. Days off will be Sunday and 1 day during the week.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $19.00 per hour
