Knox County Park District Welcomes New Director

It is with great pleasure we announce David Heithaus as the Knox County Park District’s next director! Born and raised in Knox County, Dave comes to us with an essential knowledge of the Park District’s natural resources as well as the education and practical experience which are needed in their management and development.
After graduating from Kenyon College, he pursued graduate coursework and field work with Duke University in Conservation Biology and Policy, and Marine Ecology and with Simon Fraser University in Conservation-oriented Behavioral Ecology. During this course of study, an ecosystem research project took him to Shark Bay, Western Australia where he worked as a Marine Biological Technical Consultant.
Dave returned to the United States and accepted a position with Kenyon College as the Director of Facilities for Brown Family Environmental Center and later as the Director of Green Initiatives, the latter being the position he held prior to joining the staff at the Knox County Park District. He is currently in the final stages of completing his Master’s thesis.
We welcome Dave to the team knowing that, with his skilled leadership and wide array of talents and abilities as well as his inherent passion for the natural world, the Park District will be in capable hands.
Help us congratulate Dave by joining us for refreshments on December 29 at 3:00 p.m. in the Knox County Service Center located at 117 E. High Street, Suite 251. We will say good-bye to outgoing director Lori Totman who looks forward to introducing Dave to the community at that time.
