Church Receives 4-6 Years Sentence for Strangulation

Jeffrey A. Church, 26, of Fredericktown, was sentenced to an indefinite prison sentence of 4-6 years in Knox County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday. The case was handled by Assistant Knox County Prosecutor, Christine C. Williams. He entered a plea of Guilty to Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree. The nature of the offense consisted of strangulation by a phone cord in addition to other serious injuries. The victim was the mother of Church’s five children. The strangulation injuries were documented by an medical expert strangulation hired through the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office Furtherance of Justice Fund.

Church, a former prison guard, will be subject a three-year term of post release control upon prison release. The victim has also secured a civil protection order with a duration of five years.
