Ohio Raptors: Vultures

Today we highlight Ohio’s wildlife cleanup crew – the vultures!

Ohio has two species of vultures, commonly but incorrectly referred to as buzzards: the turkey vulture and the black vulture. These birds are not true raptors because they do not hunt their food in the same fashion as birds of prey. However, they are frequently grouped together because of their overall appearance and similarities.
