Troopers Seize $6,638 Worth of Cocaine in Stark County

CANTON – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against an Ohio man after a traffic stop in Stark County. Troopers seized a small amount of marijuana and 32 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $6,638.  

On August 31, 2018, at 4:17 a.m., troopers stopped a 2003 Ford Taurus with Ohio registration for a speed violation on Mahoning Road in the city of Canton. The driver was detained on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and placed in the back seat of the patrol cruiser where he attempted to hide a bag of cocaine. Troopers also discovered marijuana on his person.  

The suspect, Larry A.E. Dotson, 27, of Canton, was charged with possession of cocaine, a first-degree felony, and illegal conveyance, a third-degree felony. 

If convicted, he could face up to 14 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
