Appeals Court Affirms Conviction in Child Porn Case

On Tuesday, the Fifth District Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction of Pedro Montalvo on 18 child pornography charges. Montalvo is serving a seven-year prison sentence.

The case, which was decided by a jury trial in November 2016, involved Internet sharing of child pornography and the possession of hundreds of child pornography images, some including infants. Montalvo’s house was raided by MVPD and Homeland Security in November 2014.

The Appeals Court overruled four assignments of error from Montalvo, based upon the trial record and the “overwhelming evidence” of Montalvo’s guilt. The case was briefed and argued by Prosecutor McConville with assistance from Assistant Prosecutor Vince Villio.

Montalvo is scheduled for prison release in 2023.
