Scheduled Sex Offender Compliance Check Begins

Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies have begun their regularly scheduled sex offender compliance check. With assistance from the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Municipal Court Probation, and Adult Parole Authority. Officers are working to verify that all registered offenders in the county are living at the location indicated on their registration. Checks are also conducted on offenders who are on probation or parole to confirm they are compliant with court-ordered conditions. These scheduled visits are in addition to checks conducted randomly by patrol officers.

Of the ninety-one registered offenders, sixty-four have been verified so far. Follow up visits are being conducted on the remaining twenty-seven. One arrest was made for a probation violation. Anyone having questions or information may contact Sgt. James Ferenbaugh at 740-399-3303.
