Governor Signs Executive Order to Enact Emergency Adoption of the Afterschool Child Enrichment Educational Savings Account Program

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today signed Executive Order 2021-15D allowing the emergency adoption of Rule 3301-107-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code by the Ohio Department of Education, implementing the afterschool child enrichment educational savings account program.

The program will provide up to $500 per year for children ages 6-18 from families with an income of less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.Read full story

Internal Control Weaknesses Combined with an Antiquated System Allow for Massive $3.8 Billion in Unemployment Fraud and Overpayments

 

Columbus – Auditor of State Keith Faber’s Office released an audit of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) focused on fraud in Ohio’s unemployment system. Auditors noted changes to the federal requirements and a lack of controls led to vulnerabilities in the system allowing for over $475 million to be paid to criminals while another $3.3 billion in overpayments were made.… Read full story
