Cincinnati Home Remodeler Indicted for Theft of $213K

(CINCINNATI) — A home remodeler who allegedly stole almost $213,000 from consumers has been indicted on 49 charges, including theft and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today.

John J. Drennan, 33, is accused of failing to deliver promised services or refunds after taking payments totaling $212,938 from two dozen victims in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.Read full story

AG Yost Sues Akron Used Car Dealership Accused of Title Problems

(AKRON, Ohio) — Attorney General Dave Yost today announced a consumer protection lawsuit against a used car dealership and its co-owners who failed to deliver vehicle titles to customers in northeast Ohio.  

The lawsuit filed in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas accuses Jeffrey Corfman, Derek Rutter and their business, Tri-Majestic LLC, of violating Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act and Certificate of Motor Vehicle Title Act.Read full story

Search teams resumed recovery efforts on Friday morning for a missing man on the Kokosing River near Caves Campground. Personnel from the Eastern Knox County Fire District, Fredericktown Fire Department, Ohio Special Response Team, Ohio Division of Watercraft, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Knox County Coroner’s Office were on the scene.Read full story

Governor DeWine Announces Improvements to Ohio’s Jail Inspection System

 

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced several steps toward improving Ohio’s jail inspection system, including a plan to significantly expand the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s (ODRC) Bureau of Adult Detention.

In March, Governor DeWine directed ODRC to examine the overall jail inspection process, including the operations of the bureau, which has compliance oversight for more than 300 jails and temporary holding facilities in Ohio.Read full story
