For the time of day, it was only to be expected that things were to be pretty quiet, with only 5 or 6 other customers partaking of a casual drink and chat with a friend.
Southside Diner has been a favorite place of mine for the last 12 years, since moving to Mount Vernon. The atmosphere is very retro, 50’s style, with memorabilia from the era decorating the walls. From old 45’s to license plates, children’s toys to photographs of celebrities, most of whom are sadly no longer with us.
The Mount Vernon B&O Railroad Station served as a telegraph office, freight and passenger railroad station. The first train to stop at the station did so on Monday November 25th 1907, with many more continuing to do so for the next 95 years.… Read full story
Two SAT (Save America’s Treasures) grants have been awarded to the restoration project of this theater, which has been progressing steadily, following the formation of the Woodward Development Corporation inn 1996.
