USDA Makes Producer-Friendly Change to 2023 Notice of Loss Requirements for Two Livestock Disaster Assistance Programs

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has waived certain notice of loss requirements for 2023 for the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-raised Fish (ELAP) and Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP). In an effort to streamline assistance to support access to critical 2023 natural disaster recovery assistance, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is waiving the requirement to submit ELAP or LIP notices of loss within a pre-determined number of days for 2023.

Brown Introduces Legislation to Help Protect Ohioans’ Mail by Addressing Uptick in Attacks on Letter Carriers on the Job

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) joined colleagues to introduce bipartisan legislation to help protect Ohioans’ mail – including their Social Security checks, prescriptions, and other valuable items. The Postal Police Reform Act would help address the steep increase in armed robberies against postal workers, who are often targeted for their “arrow” master keys, by clarifying that Postal Police Officers may be assigned to duty outside of physical Post Office locations, helping to extend protection to letter carriers on their routes.Read full story

Biden-Harris Administration Announces Updated Resource to Support the Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in Early Childhood Programs

 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and U.S. Department of Education (the Departments) today announced the release of an updated joint-policy statement on supporting the inclusion of children with disabilities in early childhood programs.

The HHS-ED Policy Statement on the Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in Early Childhood Programs builds upon a statement originally released in 2015 and includes a renewed commitment and urgency, as children with disabilities continue to face barriers accessing and fully participating in inclusive early childhood programs.
