Governor DeWine Announces Support for Community-Based Interventions to Prevent Violent Crime

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced that support is now available for non-profits and governmental agencies to establish or enhance community-based interventions to prevent violence and connect crime victims to recovery services. 

A total of $20 million in grant funding is now available as part of Governor DeWine’s new Community Violence Prevention Grant Program, which is administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS).Read full story

Statement from AG Yost on Breakthrough Between University of Toledo and ProMedica

(TOLEDO, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost issued the following statement today after ProMedica Health System agreed to pay two outstanding payments it owes the University of Toledo’s medical school as part of an academic affiliation agreement:

Study Confirms Link Between COVID-19 Vaccination and Temporary Increase in Menstrual Cycle Length

Large NIH-funded study included participants in North America and Europe.

A large international study has confirmed the findings of a previous U.S. study that linked COVID-19 vaccination with an average increase in menstrual cycle length of less than one day. Campaign for New Portable/Bedside Cardiac Monitoring Units

This year, The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital campaign, “Time is Muscle”, is working to raise funds to help purchase new portable/bedside cardiac monitoring units in the Emergency Department. These units will help gather more detailed information on patients who come in experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Syncope (people who pass out)
  • Irregular heart rhythms – in the Knox County area; we have a large portion of patients with Atrial Fibrillation – a rapid heartbeat
  • Renal patients who are also a large part of the Knox County population, have a hard time maintaining proper electrolytes, which can turn into heart dysrhythmias meaning your heart is beating irregular
  • Women who are experiencing abdominal pain, nausea vomiting, which could indicate a heart attack.
