PUCO approves AEP Ohio’s gridSMART Phase 2

COLUMBUS, OH (Feb. 1, 2017) — The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today approved AEP Ohio’s gridSMART Phase 2 project.

“The PUCO is excited to see this project move forward,” state PUCO Chairman Asim Z. Haque. “AEP Ohio’s smart grid deployment will lead to significant customer benefits including increased reliability, efficiency and market enhancements.”

During AEP Ohio’s gridSMART Phase 2, the utility will:

  • Install advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for approximately 894,000 customers.

PUCO Accepts Results of FirstEnergy Auction

COLUMBUS, OH (Feb. 1, 2017) — The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today accepted the results of FirstEnergy’s wholesale auction that will ultimately determine its standard service offer through May 2018.

During the Jan. 31, 2017, auction five competitive suppliers submitted winning bids on a one-year product to supply electricity to FirstEnergy’s Ohio utility customers.Read full story
