26 Found Guilty in Mount Vernon Municipal Court

 

MOUNT VERNON –Judge John Thatcher found 26 guilty after arraignments, hearings, and trials that were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

December 12

•Randall Johnston, 51 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Not Wearing a Seatbelt. The Court sentenced him to pay a $30 fine.

•Thomas Ward, 23 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, with 45 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete 20 hours of community service for each count.

•Jeffrey Sherbahn, 66 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Aggravated Menacing, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to serve 120 days in jail for the Aggravated Menacing charge, 60 days in jail, with credit for time served, for the Criminal Mischief charge, and 30 days in jail for the DOC charge.

•Joshua Taylor, 29 of Saint Marys, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

•Austin Purdy, 22 of Danville, was found guilty of Having Physical Control Over a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention
program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

•Laanda Williams, 33 of Heath, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

•Tyler Popham, 39 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving Left of Center. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

December 13

•Angela Owens, 44 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, and placed her on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.

•John Gebert, 22 of Centerburg, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

•Joni Wears, 41 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with Expired Plates. The Court sentenced her to pay a $25 fine.

•Kera Brasseur, 27 of Mansfield, was found guilty of Having an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine for each offense.

•Haley Behnfeldt, 29 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Keep an Assured Clear Distance Ahead. The Court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine.

•Dustin Shinabery, 44 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.

•Kris Brechler, 46 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.

•Ashley Townsend, 21 of New Concord, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced her to pay a $50 fine.

•Brendan Kleist, 18 of Huron, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

•Edward McManaway, 44 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment.

•Travis Mackie, 25 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, with 25 days suspended, placed him on one year of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete 10 hours of community service, and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days.

•Trenton Turner, 22 of Mansfield, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve seven days in jail.

•Tyler Gregg, 24 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Failing to Stop After an Accident, Failing to Reinstate his Operator’s License and Failure to Use Reasonable Control. He will be sentenced on December 27, 2023.

•Ryan Schonauer, 47 of Howard, was found guilty of Violating a Protection Order. He will be sentenced on January 17, 2023 following a pre-sentence investigation.

•Joseph Stanford, 21 of Mansfield, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. He will be sentenced on January 10, 2023 following a pre-sentence investigation.

Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

 

December 14

•Mary Plummer, 44 of Howard, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced her to pay court costs only.

•Leonard Clifton, 60 of Commercial Point, was found guilty of Operating a Truck Off State Route. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

•Michael Kromoff, 57 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and Failure to Yield. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine for DUS and a $25 fine for Failure to Yield.

•Darwin Reyes Camargo, 37 of Columbus, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine.
