- Objectives

- Essential Functions

- Impounds stray and unwanted dogs; rescues injured dogs and transports to veterinarian; controls aggressive dogs; quarantines dogs involved in bites; investigates animal claims and dog bite reports; tranquilizes and treats dogs; cares for impounded dogs, feeds dogs, cleans kennels; sells dog licenses and issues citations; euthanizes dogs as needed;
- Answers radio and phones; dispatches and logs calls; maintains radio contact with and logs transport unit locations; calls bite dog owners and explains laws;
- Works with prospective adopters; provides information to the public; adopts out dogs;
- Prepares, maintains, and completes logs, files, reports and other documentation;
- Drives and maintains a county vehicle;
- Establishes public points of contact to foster community awareness; Prepares flyers; calls newspapers to place ads and make announcements;
- Maintains required licensures and certifications;
- Demonstrates regular, predictable, and punctual attendance

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record;
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening;
- Must possess a High School Diploma and have prior experience and/or vocational training in animal behavior or related field
