Mount Vernon, OH – Knox County Career Center’s (KCCC) Automotive Technology program, led by instructor Don McDaniel, hosted a Car Show/Cruise-in on Sunday, September 25th at KCCC. Entry was by donation only. The event was sponsored by Thorpe Garage out of Johnstown and McDaniel CPA out of Mount Vernon.
KCCC’s Culinary Arts program, led by instructor Chef Matt Russo, prepared and sold food for the event. Between the two programs, over $3,400 was raised for Knox County Food for the Hungry.
“I am overwhelmed with the outcome and success of the Automotive Technology Car Show/Cruise-in to benefit Knox County Food for the Hungry. To all who donated their time, donated to the cause, and who attended the show, thank you for making a difference,” said McDaniel.
Russo added, “I feel that it is essential that we not only prepare our students for future careers but that we also teach them to give back to their local community. Food for the Hungry is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community that does so much to support us.”
“It was a wonderful event for the community and KCCC students and staff to interact while enjoying amazing vehicles all in the name of coming together to support Food for the Hungry. I’m so appreciative of our staff who planned this event, the sponsors, the car owners, and the community visitors who made this day so successful. It is a gift from all of us to show to our students that their work in helping others makes a difference,” said Kathy Greenich, Superintendent at KCC.
