Objectives
This position directly reports to the County Auditor and provides a wide variety of services to the public and other governmental entities.
This position is highly visible to the public and a strong sense of customer service must be maintained at all times.  The Deputy Auditor – Budgets/Payroll Assistant is responsible for:  accepting and completing all annual budgets for County, Villages, City, Townships, Special Districts, etc., and ongoing monthly requests.  Payroll Assistant will provide back-up services to the Payroll Administrator such as balancing, data entry, reporting, etc.
While individual employees may be assigned a specific area of general responsibility, all employees are expected to assist each other as needed, and with miscellaneous other tasks as assigned.  This job description is not intended to provide a complete list of the duties that may be assigned to an employee.

Essential Functions
Receives and prepares all annual budgets and has extreme knowledge of excel spreadsheets.
Verifies and reconciles all budget requests.
Receives and prepares monthly requests such as amended certificates.
Answers to inquiries and fulfill public records requests from taxpayers and other interested parties pertaining to payroll, budgets etc.
Assist with any and all aspects of the payroll department under the supervision of the payroll administrator.  Such as processing payroll, balancing, processing new hire information, filing required reports etc.
Completes special projects as requested by Knox County Auditor
Represents the Knox County Auditor’s Office inside and outside of office hours.  Must maintain the ability to get along with others (i.e. develop and maintain cooperative professional relationships), including but not limited to customers/citizens, colleagues, direct supervisors and government agencies.

Job Standards
Excellent communication, computer, organizational and customer service skills.
A good working knowledge of modern office-oriented computer programs such as accounting software system, Microsoft Word, Excel and others.
An Associates of Business, Finance or similar degree or equivalent experience.
Absolute honesty and integrity.
An ability to research, grasp, and apply knowledge of detailed and complex subject matter.

Supplemental Information
This position is regular, full-time 35 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
