Lewellyn, Gardner Sentenced to Prison

Johnathan Llewellyn, 22, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a term of 8 – 12 years for aggravated robbery and felonious assault of a Mount Vernon man in June. Llewellyn beat the victim with a baseball bat, fracturing his leg, and then took the man’s wallet.
Llewellyn was also sentenced for the offenses of conveyance of drugs into the jail, aggravated possession of drugs, and assault on a jail deputy committed in October. Those prison terms will run concurrently with his robbery sentence. The robbery was investigated by MVPD Det. Cpl. James DeChant, and the jail offenses were investigated by KSCO Det. Aaron Phillips.
Brian Gardner, 48, of Howard, was sentenced to a term of 3 – 4.5 years for aggravated possession of drugs, a second degree felony. Gardner was discovered in possession of about an ounce of methamphetamine when MVPD officers executed a search warrant at 18 Prospect Street in Mount Vernon in September 2019. Gardner also agreed to the forfeiture of $682.00 in money that was the proceeds of drug trafficking activity. This case was investigated by MVPD Det. Jessica Butler.
