
The Compost Facility will be open every day, year-round and the hours will be as follows:
Nov. 1 – Feb. 28th, 7 am – 5 pm
Mar. 1 – Oct. 31st, 7 am – 7 pm
As a reminder, the only accepted items are:
• Grass clippings
• Leaves
• Shrubs and brush
• Tree limbs up to 10 inches in diameter
• Christmas trees without decorations
Items not accepted are:
• Tree trunk roots
• Limbs over 10 inches in diameter
• Food waste
• Lumber – treated or untreated
• Soil and sod
• Bales of straw
Any evidence of illegal dumping will be reported to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Residents will be given access to free mulch that is left at the site; however, removal of the material must be done manually without the use of power equipment.
