Knox County Sheriff’s Report – Oct 26, 2020

Deputies were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of White’s Cra Wash in Centerburg. The Deputies made contact with the male driver and asked for him to identify himself. The driver advised that he did not have a driver’s license but provided a social security number. Dispatch advised that the driver, Richard Hummel, had an active warrant issued out of Richland County. Hummel was arrested and transported to the Richland County border and released to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office custody on October 26th, 2020.

Deputies responded to Millersburg Road for a suicidal male. The male denied suicidal thoughts but was willing to be transported to Knox Community Hospital to speak with a BHP counselor on October 25th, 2020.

A Complainant advised that a female individual was driving a white Jeep on New Guilford Road and was hight intoxicated from consuming alcoholic beverages. The Complainant also advised that the female was driving to the Bladensburg Marathon to wait until she sobered up before driving home. Deputies were able to locate the female sitting in the white Jeep at the gas station and noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. Tina Grohe, of Howard, after standard field sobriety tests, was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the Knox County Jail on October 26th, 2020.

A Complainant reported drunken individuals at a campground that were causing a disturbance. Deputies responded and made contact with the parties involved and witnesses. A report was completed for documentation to be sent to the City Law Director for review on October 25th, 2020.

A Complainant reported that his son was being unruly and also made suicidal remarks. Deputies responded and made contact with all parties involved. The complainant transported his son to Knox Community Hospital for a mental health evaluation. A report was completed to be sent to the City Law Director and Juvenile Court for review on October 24th, 2020.

A Complainant reported that a neighbor cut a limb off of his tree that overshadowed the neighbor’s property. A report was taken on October 24th, 2020.

A Complainant reported that her identity had been used to open a fraudulent account. A report was taken on October 24th, 2020.

A Complainant advised that there was drug paraphernalia located on Duff Street in Gambier. The items were taken for disposal on October 25th, 2020.

While working a sporting event at Mount Vernon High School football field, the Mount Vernon High School Principal approached Deputies and advised that they had a situation in which someone had given one of the student athletes alcohol. The people involved were interviewed and a report was filed. The report will be forwarded to the Knox County Juvenile Prosecutor for review and pending charges on October 23rd, 2020.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on active domestic violence. Deputies responded and spoke to both parties. A report was taken and forwarded to the appropriate prosecutor’s office. It incident occurred on October 24th, 2020.
