Sex Offender Registration and Tiers

Anyone convicted of a sexual offense is required to register as a Sex Offender for any offenses committed after January 1st of 2008. This act is called the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, with this Act it also created the national sex offender registry that allows anyone to search locally in their area for registered sex offenders.

** Tier I sex offender/child victim offender registrant. When not incarcerated under any of the sentences must personally register his/her residence, employment or school (or institution of higher education) addresses with the county sheriff of the county containing these addresses and verify the same for 15 years with in-person verification annually.
** Tier II sex offender/child victim offender registrant. When not incarcerated under any of the sentences must personally register his residence, employment or school (or institution of higher education) addresses with the county sheriff of the county containing these addresses and verify same for 25 years with in-person verification every 180 days by personally appearing at the sheriff’s office.
** Tier III sex offender/child victim offender registrant. When not incarcerated under any of the sentences must personally register his residence, employment or school (or institution of higher education) addresses with the county sheriff of the county containing these addresses and verify the same for a lifetime with in-person verification every 90 days by personally appearing at the sheriff’s office.


All offenders must give a 20-day notice of any residence change to the county sheriff. New employment must be given within 3 days to the county sheriff. All internet identifiers such as email addresses and any type of social media accounts being used by the offender is to be disclosed to the county sheriff at the time registration and at check in.
