On Saturday January 11th, 2020 during a strong wind event across both Mount Vernon and the Knox County area, the northeast stadium light pole was toppled over. Fortunately, it landed in an area within the stadium that didn’t create additional damage during this fall. However, upon inspection by our Supervisor of Maintenance, Rick Shaffer and special inspectors, which were called for evaluation, it has been determined that a second light pole may have sustained damages which could impact the structural integrity of the light pole. Therefore, we are closing Yellow Jacket Stadium until these issues can be further evaluated and corrected. There is not a timeframe in which these repairs and inspections will be completed. We will notify the community as soon as we can safely determine that use of the facility can be restored. Any questions regarding this closure, can be directed to Rick Shaffer, Supervisor of Maintenance at 740-397-2422 ext.6004.
