PUCO Seeks Public Comments on Proposed Electric Company Rules

COLUMBUS, OHIO (July 31, 2019) – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today issued draft rules for public comment regarding electric distribution utilities. Comments are due Aug. 23, 2019.

As part of its regular five-year review, the Commission issued proposed rules for public comment. The PUCO staff-proposed rule changes are non-substantive.

The Commission’s rules define an electric distribution utility (EDU), outline the requirements of an EDU’s application for a standard service offer and the requirements for procurement of standard service. An EDU’s standard service offer determines the price of electricity for customers who do not sign up for service with a competitive energy provider.

The Commission is seeking comments on the proposed changes from interested parties and the public by August 23. The public can provide comments on the “Contact Us” section on the PUCO website. Correspondences should reference case number 18-1188-EL-ORD.

A copy of today’s Commission entries and proposed rule changes is available on the PUCO website at PUCO.ohio.gov. Click on the link to Docketing Information System (DIS) and search for case 18-1188-EL-ORD. More information on the PUCO rulemaking process is available on the PUCO website.
