Detectives are continuing the death investigation of a one-month-old infant that occurred on Wooster Road north of Mount Vernon. Initial responding officers discovered the father, deceased infant, and two dogs at the residence. An autopsy on the infant is scheduled for today. As part of the investigation, the two dogs that were removed from the residence were euthanized for examination. The breed of the dogs were described by animal control officers as pit bull or a pit bull mix.
Grief counseling is being provided to family members. First responders and dispatchers will be involved in a critical incident debriefing.
