Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force Continues Community Listening Sessions in Columbus

Event held at Columbus State Community College; fourth stop on statewide tour

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Governor’s Nursing Home Quality and Accountability Task Force visited Columbus State Community College today to once again hear directly from Ohioans about their experiences surrounding the quality of nursing homes.

The task force held morning and afternoon listening sessions, hosting over 140 guests in total, including residents of local nursing homes, their family members and friends, industry employees, and other interested community members.

Guests once again offered several poignant personal stories of their own experience or the experience of a loved one. After the larger group conversation, Ohio Department of Aging staff facilitated smaller group breakout sessions for guests to further detail concerns in specific aspects of their journey and to propose potential solutions for the task force to consider.

The task force was established by Governor Mike DeWine to allow State officials and industry experts to take action on opportunities to improve quality of life and quality of care in Ohio’s nursing homes. The in-person listening sessions provide opportunities for task force members to hear directly from nursing home residents and their loved ones about their experiences.

Prior to today’s event, the task force hosted two other listening sessions in the following communities:

Additional listening sessions will be held over the coming weeks in the following communities:

  • Bowling Green (March 28)
  • Nelsonville (April 6)

Cleveland (April 13)
