Knox County Sheriff’s Report – Jan 14-16, 2023

January 13
A caller reported a man walking on Columbus Road in all black and thought it was suspicious. Upon arrival, the male said he wanted to jump in the pond he passed and die. Male was pink slipped and was transported to KCH.
A complainant reported a fraud in which he was scammed out of money.
A deputy was dispatched to an Amish School on New Castle Road in reference to a vandalism. Once the Deputy arrived on the scene and began to investigate, it was determined that the school was broken into and a substantial amount of damage was caused to the interior of the building.
January 14
A victim called 911 and advised dispatch that he was assaulted and he believed he had a broken jaw. Dispatch advised that the caller was difficult to understand. Deputies and EMS were dispatched to the residence and made contact with all parties involved. The victim was transported to Knox Community Hospital and a male offender was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident. A report was completed for documentation.
January 15
A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a moving violation on Coshocton Road. During the course of the traffic stop a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Marijuana drug paraphernalia was found. The driver was issued a citation for the paraphernalia and also for having fictitious license plates. The vehicle was impounded for not having registration for the vehicle.
A caller reported his fiance is being harassed by her ex-boyfriend. A voicemail was left for the ex-boyfriend to stop calling and texting. A statement was collected and copies of text messages collected for documentation.
An officer of the Mount Vernon Police Department advised he had Andrew Newcomb who has a warrant at 5 Northview Dr, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Andrew has an active warrant out of the Mansfield Police Department. The officer detained Andrew until a deputy arrived. The deputy searched Andrew and found no contraband. An officer transported Andrew to the Knox County Jail without incident. Nothing further.
Deputies were dispatched to Baird Road to investigate a suspicious persons. Once on the scene, deputies met with the landowner and attempted to locate the suspicious persons.
Dispatch was advised about a rifle that that had been found, and was laying in a ditch on Orange Hill Road. Deputies found said rifle and placed it into evidence for safekeeping. It appeared the rifle may have been accidentally left there. A report was taken.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Wooster Road in reference to a possible domestic violence incident. Once Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the involved parties and a witness, it was determined that the altercation did not get physical and no one made threats of harm. One of the parties left to stay somewhere else; both were told that a report would be filed to document the incident.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on O’Brien Road on a possible domestic violence. A complainant called in stating that his stepfather had kicked in the bathroom door, which hit him in the head causing bruising and swelling above his left eye. The stepfather was place under arrest and transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
January 16
An individual called the Knox County Sheriff’s Office stating that he had an outstanding warrant out of Ashland County and wanted to turn himself in. Contact was made with the individual at a residence on Gilmore Road. The individual was placed under arrest, transported, and released to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office at the Knox County line without incident.
