Brown Holds Education Roundtable With Advocated And Providers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 19, 2022 – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) hosted a virtual roundtable with advocates and providers to discuss Ohio Out-of-School Time programs and to learn about successes and opportunities for students.

“I know the pandemic impacted students and the programming you offer – whether it was afterschool care, weekend programs, or camps during the summer,” said Brown. “I’m proud that the Child Tax Credit and American Rescue Plan made a difference for your students and communities during a difficult time. I’ll keep fighting for investment in our children, families, and education programs.”

Brown invited participants to partner with his summer manufacturing camps which help introduce kids and their parents to an up-to-date, real-world understanding of American manufacturing. This learning opportunity gives local students the opportunity to learn about careers in their communities, tour local manufacturing facilities, and learn from experts. Students are able to see how products are made, participate in team-building exercises, and work on a project specific to their community.

Since 2013, Brown’s office has partnered with local businesses and community leaders to host more than 110 camps. In 2022, Brown’s office hosted 24 in-person Summer Manufacturing Camps in 17 counties, with Brown visiting camps in Mansfield and Defiance.
