Unanimous Settlement Agreement Approved for Aqua Ohio Water and Sewer Rate Cases

COLUMBUS, OHIO (Sept. 21, 2022) – Today the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved a unanimous settlement agreement setting new rates for water and sewer service for Aqua Ohio.

In today’s entry, the Commission noted the settlement agreement calls for Aqua Ohio to increase its annual revenues for water service by $5.178 million, which is a 7.9% increase over current revenues. Aqua will increase its annual revenues by $303,595 for sewer service, which is an 8.96% increase over current revenues. The average residential user will see a $3.04 – $4.01 increase in their monthly water bill, and a $0 – $4.97 increase in monthly sewer bills, depending on service territory.

Aqua service territories where rates are set by local government ordinance rather than the PUCO are not impacted by today’s decision.

The settlement approved today also calls for Aqua Ohio to provide shareholder funding to its low-income water assistance program. Aqua will also make customer disconnection data and statistics publicly available on its website.

On June 16, 2022, an unopposed settlement agreement was filed by Aqua Ohio, PUCO Staff, Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, and the city of Marion.
