Objectives
The Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities has an immediate opening for a part-time custodian. Work schedule will be 5:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. (as assigned and flexible as needed).
Essential Functions
  • Open and/or close Knox County Board of DD facility on regular basis.
  • Maintain a positive environment and relationship with individuals, families, coworkers, providers, and the community.
  • Implement vision and mission of the KCBDD.
  • Prepare necessary cleaning solutions for classrooms and custodial use.
  • Sweep, mop, wax, buff/strip and seal floors; wash windows, walls, lights, drinking fountains and fixtures; dust and wash furniture and appliances; empty and wash trash/recycling containers.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and drinking fountains daily; restock restroom supplies.
  • Maintain a regular daily schedule of custodial services as approved by supervisor.
  • Respond appropriately to immediate custodial needs in building and on grounds.
  • Set up and restore room(s) for scheduled meetings.
  • Maintain supply inventory and fill in requisitions on the computer for needed supplies for approval by supervisor.
  • Assist with routine building maintenance as requested.
  • Maintain an orderly storage area by properly disposing of broken, outdated and unsafe furniture, fixtures, cleaning solutions, paint and etc.
  • Shovel snow and de-ice sidewalks to ensure safety. Maintain appearance of building and grounds across all seasons.
  • Assist with training additional custodial staff including individuals enrolled in Board programs and temporary/seasonal employees in accordance with practices of the KCBDD and community agencies.
  • Have knowledge and maintain OSHA standards.
  • Understand and abide by HIPAA regulations and standards.
  • Overtime/comp time is permitted only with supervisor’s approval.
  • Report Major Unusual Incidents and Unusual Incidents.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Standards
  • Completion of high school education or GED.  Orientation involving appropriate job related duties including, but not limited to, nature and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Valid Ohio driver’s license. BCI/FBI, Abuse Registry, 
  • Pre-employment Drug Screening and Nurse Registry clearance.
  • Compliance with: OSHA standards; Board adopted policies and procedures; Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio Department of Education Rules and Regulations and applicable laws as may pertain to tenant’s building use.  Attend required in-services. Possess valid Ohio Driver’s License and be insurable.
