Spomer Found Guilty of Theft of Truck and Tools

Shawn P. Spomer, 34, of Greenwood Village, Colorado, was found guilty today by a Knox County Jury of a January 2021 theft of a tow truck and tools from a Mount Vernon auto repair business. He faces up to 18 months for the vehicle theft and 12 months for the felony theft charge for the tools.
Spomer was a fugitive for months, fighting extradition to Ohio from both Colorado and Kansas, where he had been arrested.
Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Derr presented the case in court. The case was investigated by Ptl. Patience Weiser and Det. J.T. DeChant. The Knox County Prosecutor’s Office also recognizes the special investigative assistance of the Hilliard Police Department in identifying Mr. Spomer.
Spomer will be sentenced in the coming weeks.
