Schafer Industries is currently seeking a Material Handler for its Schafer Driveline operation in Fredericktown, Ohio.  This is a temporary full-time position, which may be considered for a regular full-time position after 90 days.

General Summary

 

The material handler is responsible for shipping & receiving functions, transfer of materials to the lines, appropriate storage of materials and cycle counting.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Track the inventory from Storage areas to appropriate assembly lines using the RF system.
  • Stocking and kitting parts to line side, filling carts for production line side presentation.
  • Investigates and reports reasons for discrepancy errors in computation or count when asked.
  • Mark inventory codes on goods using proper labeling and FIFO identifiers.
  • Assist in maintaining a high level of accuracy in inventory integrity in physical location as well as in RF system; perform inbound dock audits as needed.
  • Evaluate inventory count discrepancies using weigh counting, box counts and other verification methods; be able to look at situations and actively contribute to a favorable solution.
  • May be asked to work overtime with little notification; able to work flexible hours.
  • While in the shipping and receiving area, may:
    • Verify inbound shipments for receipt.
    • Enter receipts into Visual.
    • Pulling and verifying inventory
    • Track the inventory from its location in storage areas to appropriate assembly lines using the RF system.
    • Verify the inventory counts from assembly lines to the appropriate storage areas using the RF system.
    • Assist in maintaining a high level of accuracy in inventory, location information and systems.
    • Periodically perform shipping and receiving duties
    • Perform inbound and outbound audits as needed.
    • Verify outbound shipments.
    • Pulling and verifying inventory
    • Track the inventory from its location in storage areas to appropriate shipping areas using the RF system.
    • Verify the inventory counts on racking.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by your Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Forklift Certification (Schafer will conduct testing for certification)
  • Technical Capacity
  • Ability to Read and Write
  • Initiative
  • Communication Proficiency

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.

No travel is expected for this position.
