Miller Awarded Beulah Apostolic Award

 

Health Commissioner Julie Miller was awarded the Beulah Apostolic Award during the 19th Annual Knox County Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Monday (1/17). The event, sponsored by Kenyon College, Mount Vernon Nazarene College and the Knox County MLK Legacy Committee, was held virtually.

The Beulah Apostolic Award is presented annually to an individual from the Knox County community who exemplifies the characteristics of servant leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in their everyday lives and work. The MLK Legacy Committee presented the award to Julie for her leadership at Knox Public Health, especially during the pandemic and for her personal and professional interest in working with individuals in poverty to improve health outcomes, homelessness, and workforce development.
In addition to being health commissioner for the past 11 years, Julie is: a member and volunteer with the Winter Sanctuary Homeless Shelter Board of Trustees: Executive member of the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team; a member of Board of Trustees for the YMCA of Knox County and the New Directions Domestic Violence Shelter.
