Objectives

Provides education to Precinct Election Officials (PEOs) and oversees community outreach. Reports to Board of Elections Director
Job Standards
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s or advanced degree in education, law, communications, marketing, public administration, or related field preferred. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy. Must be a registered member of the Republican party.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Recruits Precinct Elections Officials (PEOs) to staff Election Day activities utilizing various resources of available workers, such as past-PEOs, retirees, schools, etc;
• Coordinates and trains PEOs to ensure proper education and understanding of Election Day operations and technological requirements;
• Maintains a current and comprehensive PEO training manual;
• Oversees and manages PEOs on Election Day;
• Coordinates PEO payroll;
• Coordinates and deploys supplies and materials necessary for Election Day.
• Oversees general office operations, such as maintaining supplies in an orderly fashion
• Prepare and mail absentee ballots and ballot requests;
• Coordinate nursing home absentee voting;
• Assist candidates with petitions and campaign finance reports;
• Field inquiries from the public;
• Aid in completing voter registration forms;
• Promotes and maintains Board of Elections’ website and social media;
• Conducts voter registration drives;
• Pilots outreach initiatives at area institutions, such as schools, senior centers, etc.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Performs related non-essential functions as needed.

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Equipment:
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as, but not limited to, various microcomputers and components, printers, scanners, digital cameras, video projectors, hubs, switches, and modems. Ability to competently utilize a wide variety of computer and networking tools, software, and hardware. Individual uses appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Critical Skills/Expertise:
Ability to demonstrate commitment to the Board of Elections mission to conduct fair and impartial election operations; convey or exchange information with the public in a clear, effective, and friendly manner; develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders; perform job safely; interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture, or schedule form; work efficiently; maintain accurate records; prepare accurate and concise reports; adapt and perform in a professional manner in stressful or emergency situations; operate in a fast-paced environment; deliver presentations; communicate effectively in oral and written form; maintain confidentiality; handle sensitive inquiries from public and/or officials; resolve complaints from public; travel to and gain access to jobsite.

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK

Work consisting of complex, varied, standardized and non-standardized tasks requiring application of numerous laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Individual must be able to function under high stress levels and extremely complex, time sensitive, complicated situations working with mobility constraints.

III. RESPONSIBILITY

Individual must demonstrate superior multi-tasking skills. Individual must adhere to departmental rules and procedures regarding confidentiality due to the nature of information that is accessed.

IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS

Contact is with co-workers, employees from public and private sector organizations and the public. The purpose of these contacts is to guide and direct, check on progress of work assigned, coordinating services, and job development/referrals, make recommendations and handle questions about department, programs and client concerns.

V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Requirements: Individual performs light work, which may require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally. Occasional heavy work required to push or pull objects up to 250 lbs or less.
Physical Activity: Individual performs the following physical activities: standing, walking, manual dexterity, grasping, talking, and listening.
Visual Activity: Individual performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes.
Job Location: The minimum work conditions for the position indicate that the individual is exposed to both inside and outside. Individual is also exposed to noise.
