Brown Announces More Than $64 Million for Ohio Airports from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. – December 17, 2021 – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded 97 airports across Ohio with $64,510,806 in federal funding for FY22. These funds were made possible through the bipartisan infrastructure law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which Brown helped to write and pass.

“Ohio airports are vital to supporting travel and commerce in our state. We’re delivering historic wins for Ohio that will create good-paying American jobs that cannot be shipped overseas, and that will help Ohio communities of all sizes, all over the state, thrive and grow,” said Brown. “These investments will provide Ohio airports with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy.”

FAA Funding includes:

  • $11,276,768 for Cleveland-Hopkins International.
  • $9,907,381 for John-Glenn Columbus International.
  • $13,712,086 for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
  • $4,398,860 for James M. Cox Dayton International Airport.
  • $3,382,933 for Akron-Canton Regional Airport.
  • $2,175,338 for Rickenbacker International Airport.
  • $1,506,440 for Toledo Express.

The bipartisan IIJA will make needed investments in Ohio, including, fixing highways, rebuild bridges, and upgrading ports, airports and transit systems.

Infrastructure grants from the FAA will continue through the existing Airport Improvements. Funding for Ohio airports will continue over the course of the next five years and allow Ohio airports to make necessary and overdue improvements. Money from this grant can be invested in improving runways, taxiways, safety and sustainability projects, and projects to fix terminals, airport-transit connections and roadway projects.

The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information on FAA funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal can be found here.
