December 10
A complainant contacted the Knox County Sheriff’s Office regarding a violation of a protection order. Deputies arrived and made contact with the complainant, due to not being able to make contact with both parties, a report was taken for Prosecutor review.

Deputies were dispatched to Columbus Road on a report of a theft of property.

December 11
Unit One was traveling eastbound on Porter Road when a tree fell onto the front of the vehicle.

Unit one was traveling eastbound on Columbus Road at a stated 60-65mph. Unit one came upon a tree lying across the entire roadway. Unit One swerved to miss the larger portion of the tree and struck the smaller branches at the top of the tree causing functional damage.

A deputy was dispatched to Kenyon Campus Safety to collect drug paraphernalia that was found on campus. The deputy collected the paraphernalia and placed it into evidence at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for destruction.

December 12
Deputies were dispatched to Cotrell Road on a report of a person who accidentally shot himself in the hand.

Deputies were sent to a Gambier residence on a crisis intervention call. An individual was transported to KCH on a voluntary assessment. A report was taken.

December 13
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Wooster Road in Mount Vernon on a possible domestic violence. The complainant called 911 stating that her boyfriend had physically assaulted her and needed deputies to respond. Deputies were able to make contact with all individuals involved and the boyfriend, Earl R. Simmons, was placed under arrest for domestic violence and assault.
