Offenses

November 30
A male came to the Mount Vernon Police Department and filed a report about a Verizon Wireless account on his credit report that did not belong to him. A report was taken.

December 1
An officer was dispatched to handle a vandalism over the phone. No charges at this time. Nothing further at this time.

An officer received a call in reference to a stolen debit card.

An officer was dispatched to 5 North Gay Street for a fraud complaint. A report has been taken. No charges have been filed at this time.

December 2
Units were dispatched to the 1100 block of Newark Road in reference to a domestic violence call.

An officer responded to the Mount Vernon Police Department to meet with a complainant in reference to a harassment incident.

December 3
An officer was dispatched to CES Credit Union on Yauger Road on a report of bad checks being deposited. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the Payment Solutions Manager and she advised that a male deposited 3 checks that were not good checks. She advised that 2 were from a closed account and 1 was fictitious. The male was given 10 days to rectify the issue and has failed to do so. Under investigation.

An officer responded to North Sandusky Street on reported shoplifting. Upon arrival, the officer obtained a description of the male and collected a written statement. A report was taken. The male is unknown and so are his whereabouts. Nothing further to report at this time.

An officer was dispatched to Howard Street Garage in reference to vehicle vandalism and several vehicles being ransacked. Upon arrival, the officer noticed a burnt piece of paper on the floorboard of one of the vehicles. Howard Street Garage did not have any cameras and there are no suspects. A report was taken.

A female reported an Amazon package had been stolen from her front door at Colonial Estates Apartments.

Officers responded to Follin Avenue in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a female who had visible injuries and indicated her live-in boyfriend assaulted her. Cody Lewis was subsequently arrested for domestic violence and assault. Lewis was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident. Nothing further to report.

December 4
An officer responded to Rose Avenue for domestic violence. Austin was arrested without incident.

An officer responded to South McKenzie Street on a reported vandalism. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complaint, who advised the trucks had been tampered with and is inoperable. A written statement was collected and a report was taken. Nothing further to report at this time.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Newark Road on a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, a male was located in violation of a protection order and arrested without incident. The male was transported to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office where he was incarcerated. A report was taken. Nothing further to report at this time.

An officer responded to Bell Heating and Cooling on Newark Road on a vandalism. Report taken for documentation purposes.

An officer responded to West Ohio Avenue on a reported vandalism. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant, who stated her vehicle ws damaged while parked at Moss Rose. A written statement was collected and a report was taken. Nothing further to report at this time.

An officer responded to the area of Mansfield Avenue in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to a male who indicated that he and his girlfriend got into an argument. The male indicated during the incident, the female came toward his direction so he put his arm up to defend himself. The male stated when he put his arm up, the female bit him on the forearm. A report was taken to be sent to the City Prosecutor’s Office for review.

A theft from Walmart on Coshocton Avenue was reported. Upon further investigation, Chelsea Harris, of Mount Vernon, was charged with petty theft and released. Nothing further to this report.

December 5
An officer spoke with the owner of Knox Coin Exchange. The owner advised that a male sold him a fake gold bar, used the money to purchase real gold from him and now will not return his phone calls. A report was taken and is currently under investigation.

An officer responded to the Knox Community Hospital (KCH) located on Coshocton Avenue on a report of found drugs on a patient. Marijuana was collected from KCH security and placed into an evidence locker at the Mount Vernon Police Department to be destroyed.

An officer was dispatched to Pleasant Street School in reference to a vehicle parked in the middle of the parking lot. The complainant advised it had been sitting there for over an hour. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a female inside that was sleeping. The female was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a stolen Amazon package. Charges were filed and the female was released from the scene.

A male on Shalimar Drive reported a theft of medication.

Christopher Hilbert was charged with aggravated menacing, assault, and domestic violence.
John E. Pence was cited for operation at a yield sign.
John D. Ball was cited for operation at a stop sign.
Robert R. Salter II was cited for expired license plates.

December 3
Logan J. Strouse was cited for fictitious license plates.

December 4
Ronald K. Keen Jr. was charged with reckless operation and DUS – All other suspensions.
Christopher Hilbert was charged with violating a protection order.
Natasha Campbell was cited for driving under an FRA suspension.
Quandale Littlefield was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, OVI – at least .08 but less than .17 of alcohol per 210, and driving under the influence.

December 5
Robert A. Moss II was cited for expired license plates.
Raymond L. Burkett Jr. was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
