MOUNT VERNON —Once again this year, Kenyon’s Snowflake Gala has been canceled because of the ongoing concerns about the spread of Covid-19. However, as was the case last year, funds are being sought by the Snowflake Gala Committee, from both past contributors and new ones, to support Food for the Hungry and its work on behalf of needy families and individuals here in Knox County.
Also this year, once again, the William A. Stroud Jr. Award for Community Service will go to the people of Knox County, who have demonstrated again and again their commitment to the health and welfare of their neighbors and the community-at-large.
Those who have donated to Food for the Hungry through the Snowflake Gala in years past may still do so by logging on to kenyonsnowflakegala.godaddysites.com or calling Jacob Doup of WRP CPAs at 740-397-0779. Contributions to be credited to the Snowflake Gala may also be sent to Kathy Brechler in the Office of the President, Ransom Hall, Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio 43022-9623. The results of the committee’s efforts — and the community’s generosity – will be reported to all at “Drive Day” festivities in Mount Vernon on Friday, December 10, 2021.
As in years past, Kenyon will also gather canned and boxed food items from its faculty and staff members to donate to Food for the Hungry. Contributions of cash and checks will also be gratefully accepted at the College’s bookstore on Gaskin Avenue in Gambier.
The Snowflake Gala Committee’s members are Paula and Sam Barone, Kathy Brechler, Jan Reynolds, and Sally Nelson, all residents of Mount Vernon, and Tom Stamp, a Gambier resident.
