Title: Legal Deputy Clerk
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
Essential Job Functions:
- Report directly to Chief Deputy or Assistant
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers at the counter or over the telephone
- Assist customers with obtaining copies of files or records
- Collects fines, fees, and/or bond(s) being posted on case files
- Enter data into the case management system in an accurate and timely manner and place in appropriate case file
- Follow the guidelines of the workflow of the division to ensure that work is completed, that priority work is handled promptly, and that deadlines are met
- Comply with current status and regulations as they pertain to the office
- Must maintain sensitive and confidential information
- Rotate on weekly basis opening, organizing, & running mail through postage machine, taking to mailbox and/or post office
- Transporting files to and from Courthouse
- Performs a wide variety of complex clerical and supervisory clerical assignments; reviews and processes legal documents; assures completeness and accuracy of court records
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Must have good time management skills and be highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to prioritize work, work independently without daily supervision, perform a variety of duties
- Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position
- Demonstrate dependability and reliability and excellent attendance record
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of basic mathematics for collection of money
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and act in accordance with office values
- Ability to interact and build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and characteristics
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to take constructive criticism
- Skilled in data entry and analysis. Skilled on computer to quickly & accurately enter, access, update, and manipulate data
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Knowledge of basic computer functions
- Effective communication skills
